Deep and Dark and Dangerous

Read it but beware--nightmares!
This awesome and scary ghost story takes place over summer vacation at an old cottage after Ali finds an old photograph. She recognizes the first 2 people in the picture, they were her mom and her Aunt Dulcie. But who was the person torn off the picture? Ali is dying to know. In the background of the picture, they were at some lake. Ali, Aunt Dulcie, and her cousin Emma who is almost 5 years old decide to visit the lake. Not long after they got all settled in, Ali and Emma go down to the beach while Dulcie painted in her studio. Then, Emma met Sissy. Sissy is a mean and ungrateful teenage girl about Ali`s age. But Sissy is not what she seems. She has a secret.

I really liked this book even though when I read it at night, I got a little scared.

Extra Credit

Read it!

The book Extra Credit by Andrew Clements is an outstanding book and is great for everybody. I thought it had a great way of explaining the things that happened throughout the story. I loved all the details that the author described in the pictures that they sent back and forth to each other in their letters.

Extra Credit is about a girl named Abby Carson and a boy named Sadeed Bayat who are both falling behind in their school work in one way, so they are both assigned an extra credit project that will help get their grades up. Abby picks a note from a box saying to pick a pen pal from another country and send a letter to him saying things about you and your country. It also said that once she had at least 4 letters written and received, she would have to make a report on how her pen pal is doing and about what is going on in his country. Things in Afghanistan are very different from here so being pen pals was challenging. Sadeed wasn't able to just send a letter so the story is about how and who sent the letters.

Abby learns how lucky she is to live in America where she is free and happy.

I really liked this book and think you will too.
